November is a Time to Remember and Pray for the Faithful Departed
In the Catholic tradition, November is dedicated to honoring and praying for the souls of the departed. At the Basilica, we observe this season through our Franciscan All Souls Day Novena, held from Saturday, November 1 to Sunday, November 9. For nine days, those enrolled will be remembered at every Mass, in the Friars’ Divine Office, and during the Holy Rosary.
We also invite you to our Candlelight Requiem Mass on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 PM in the Upper Basilica. Votive candles bearing the names of the deceased will be placed on the St. Joseph Altar, accompanied by sacred Requiem music and quiet reflection.
Parishioners will receive a mailing with details on how to enroll loved ones and dedicate candles. Visitors are welcome to participate.
